I put a '**' by the ones of whose existence I was previously unaware. I suspect some of these last category occupy the same niche that "Trout fishing in America" occupied in the 1970's, and a list compiled in another 20 years would not include a number of them. (And has anyone but me ever heard of "Trout Fishing in America"?)
I feel there ought to be another category - books one can quote from while never having read oneself. Those are in pink
