Apparently “The Big Read” assumes that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.
Wow, really?

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people
who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

here's the listCollapse )

Writer's Block: Left Behind

What do you want done with your body after you die?
I want to be mummified.  Organs removed, dried and then wrapped. To be buried with a copy of the Theban rescension of the Book of the Dead.  And to have someone say the rites over me, including saying my name 70 times.

Say my name, that I might live.

Thank you, thank you!

Thank you to whoever nominated me for a "Best Beta" award at Fandom of Stars.

Fandom of Stars

This round of awards focuses on people, not fics, and includes categories like "stellar supporter", "spirit of inspiration", and "marvellous mod", so anyone looking for an opportunity to highlight a friend who does a great job in the background need look no further.

Either donutsweeper and myself really are totally unique (and different from each other), or this quiz has a screw loose.

Gakked from miss_zedem. Looking at my score, this appears to be the intelligence test for idiots, so cheer yourself up and go take it.

Taken from nnwest

These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing’s users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Bold the ones you've read, underline the ones you read for school, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish."

I put a '**' by the ones of whose existence I was previously unaware.  I suspect some of these last category occupy the same niche that "Trout fishing in America" occupied in the 1970's, and a list compiled in another 20 years would not include a number of them.  (And has anyone but me ever heard of "Trout Fishing in America"?)

I feel there ought to be another category - books one can quote from while never having read oneself.  Those are in pink
